The Pain Medicine Service (PMS) Pain Medicine physician independently provides patient care to veterans of the VA Southern Nevada Health Care System inpatient venues, inpatient hospital consultations, in the Pain Medicine Service the outpatient clinical care area and special procedures settings. The Pain Medicine physician is responsible for being an attending of record for outpatients in the VASNHS Pain Medicine Outpatient clinic.
**This is an OPEN CONTINOUS ANNOUNCMENT and will remain open until 08/31/2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 7/6/2026 subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.** VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Major Duties include but not limited to: The Pain Medicine physician is primarily assigned outpatient attending responsibilities in the outpatient clinic. The physician is responsible for providing an H&P, assessment, diagnosis & referral, outpatient consultations, office based injections, supervision of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and rotating medical trainees. Evaluating referrals for outpatient clinical care or consultation providing evidence-based interdisciplinary pain management in collaboration with the interprofessional pain care team. The incumbent may participate in all activities pertinent to the outpatient clinical venue of care, including consultations, longitudinal pain management, osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), pain medication management, and office-based procedure care, when clinically indicated The incumbent also participates in and directs activities pertaining to quality improvement, strategic planning, and The Joint Commission accreditation process. He/she will complete all CPRS documentation including consults and encounters. He/she exhibits leadership in initiating changes in patient care programs-based on current concepts and research study findings. He/she will keep up to date on Pain Medicine, acute and chronic pain treatment developments in the management and treatment of painful disorders, neuromuscular and joint disorders, chronic illness and symptom control and major symptomatic complications through both, informal and formal continuing education. Perform other duties as assigned that are within the scope of practice.
