Full description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. **This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until June 30 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be MAY 25th 2026 with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.** Direct Patient Care: Provide hands-on care for both inpatients and outpatients dealing with pulmonary or critical care issues. Patient-Centered Medical Care: Utilize both the art and science of medicine to deliver care that is centered on the patient. High-Value and Team-Based Care: Deliver medical care that is efficient and cost-effective, and that involves working effectively in a team setting. Palliative and Hospice Services: Incorporate palliative care and hospice principles as necessary for patient care. Teaching: Engage in teaching medical students, residents, and other healthcare trainees who rotate through the pulmonary/critical care service. Research and Academic Activities: Participate in clinical research and other academic endeavors, associated with both the VA and affiliated academic institutions. Interpersonal Skills: Exhibit interpersonal skills that improve the effectiveness and success of the medical service. Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills appropriate for the responsibilities of the position. Participation in Hospital Activities: Engage in various hospital and medical staff activities, including accreditation, quality assessment and improvement projects, committee work, and participation in programs like EPRP, ORYX, HEDIS, and SAIL. Consult Management and Documentation: Function effectively within the VA's consult management systems, utilize order sets, document properly in CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System), and comply with other electronic medical record requirements. Direct Patient Care: Provide hands-on care for both inpatients and outpatients dealing with pulmonary or critical care issues. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
