Full description

Northwell Health’s Division of Rheumatology is seeking Chief of Rheumatology for Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, NY.

Northern Westchester Hospital, part of Northwell Health, is a 245-bed acute care hospital offering a wide range of medical-surgical, inpatient, and outpatient services. Founded in 1916, the Hospital is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care through a unique combination of medical expertise, leading-edge technology, and a dedication to humanity that ensures our patients and their families receive treatment in a caring, respectful, and nurturing environment. Improving and protecting the health of the community is central to our mission. Northern Westchester Hospital serves as a clinical campus for the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, which is owned by the health system in partnership with Hofstra University. We launched our first class of internal medicine residents in June 2024 as we continue to transition into an academic tertiary center in the region.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Expansion & Enhancement: Lead the growth and improvement of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy services, including inpatient and ambulatory care.
  • Clinical Oversight: Supervise clinical care and staff, ensuring all staff maintain active credentials.
  • Clinical Oversight: Supervise Internal Medicine residents elective rotation in the Department of Rheumatology
  • Care Coordination: Develop and manage care coordination among healthcare providers.
  • Visibility: Enhance Northwell Northern Westchester Hospital's visibility locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Quality Management: Implement quality management activities and maintain quality assurance programs.
  • Education: Design and implement educational programs and curricula for the department and the Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Research: Conduct and develop medical research projects.
  • Administration: Participate in strategic planning, physician recruitment, credentialing, and marketing.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends and maintain professional ethics and clinical competency.

The Division of Rheumatology, consisting of over 50 rheumatologists throughout the New York area, requires several more rheumatologists to fulfill enormous community needs. The focus will be on outpatient activities at all sites, but inpatient consultations, teaching, and scholarly work may be available depending on location. Despite the broad geographic distribution of our physicians, we have a common administration, electronic record, and weekly virtual educational events.

We continually recruit a diverse physician workforce to meet the needs of the diverse patients we seek to serve; as a result, our Health System is proudly ranked Diversity Inc’s #1 Hospital and Health System. We fully understand that diversity is integral for our institutional excellence and a means to attaining health equity. As a result, our diversity and inclusion efforts are a part of everything we do, from education, to clinical care, to research, to physician well-being.
