Job Title:Physician - Department of Radiology, Program Director, Diagnostic Radiology Residency (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Department:

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Radiologist to join the Department of Radiology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Diagnostic Radiology Program Director oversees all residents and resident-directed educational activities for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency (DR) and works closely with the Interventional Radiology (IR) Program Director in oversight of the IR residents during their first three years in that program. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Program Director works directly with Departmental leadership and the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education (GME) within the College of Medicine to execute strategic growth of our educational mission, including the development of innovative learning opportunities and models for our residents. They will also work closely with the Vice Chair of Education to ensure optimal collaboration and experience for all faculty and staff. The Program Director is supported by a team with staff members fully dedicated to the educational programs of the Department.

Department/Division Overview
The Ohio State University Department of Radiology is experiencing significant growth across its research, education, and clinical missions, positioning it as a national leader in imaging innovation and care delivery. The Center for Imaging Excellence (CIE) serves as a cornerstone of this advancement, bringing together multidisciplinary teams to accelerate translational research in MRI, CT, and PET imaging. With an expanding focus on artificial intelligence—supported by Ohio State’s designation as an ACR Recognized Center for Healthcare-AI (ARCH-AI)—as well as theranostics and advanced imaging technologies, and ongoing renovations to support state-of-the-art infrastructure and collaborative team science, the CIE is strengthening its role in discovery, education, and training the next generation of imaging scientists.

The department continues to strengthen its educational programs through a comprehensive portfolio of residencies and subspecialty fellowships, supporting a diverse pathway for trainees and reinforcing its commitment to excellence in graduate medical education across diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Clinically, Radiology is rapidly expanding to meet growing patient demand and support the Wexner Medical Center’s Impact 2035 strategic vision. This includes major investments in new and renovated facilities, such as the recently opened 820-bed inpatient hospital tower, a biomedical research tower, and the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Center. In parallel, the department is extending its reach through new ambulatory care centers in New Albany, Dublin, and Powell, alongside established imaging sites across the region—enhancing access, capacity, and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered imaging services.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the educational mission of the training program ensuring appropriate trainee milestone advancement, oversight of the faculty teaching / role modeling, assigning teaching faculty to provide high quality resident education.

• Ensure that the most recent, cutting-edge opportunities for education in DR are brought to OSU and to our program.

• Foster an effective, safe learning environment, promoting an interdisciplinary healthcare team that supports education and provides high quality, effective clinical services to patients, and will do so in a balanced fashion.

• Assess residency quality outcome metrics – both education and patient care, while also supporting wise resource utilization and appropriate adherence to protocol and practice guidelines by trainees.

• Ensure the education and training of supervising physicians and residents is commensurate with their activity in OSUWMC and that trainees are provided with proper supervision commensurate to skill/knowledge of the trainee.

• Assure OSUWMC meets the accreditation and regulatory standards of the ACGME, Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, and any other governmental accrediting or regulatory bodies as may be appropriate for the corresponding subspecialty area.

• Promote program and OSU Radiology through educational scholarly output.

• Provide a learning and working environment in which residents have the opportunity to raise concerns and provide feedback in a confidential manner as appropriate, without fear of intimidation or retaliation.

• Oversee the resident selection process in a manner that is just and equitable.
