The Division of Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation (HOT) at the University of Minnesota is seeking a board certified/eligible GI Oncologist at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank.

Join our expanding GI oncology program at a pivotal moment of growth. This is an opportunity to shape a program with strong multidisciplinary infrastructure, active clinical trial capacity, and genuine institutional commitment to becoming a nationally recognized destination for GI cancer care and research.

You will join a highly collaborative team with focused expertise in pancreatic, hepatobiliary, colorectal, gastric, esophageal, and other GI malignancies, serving one of the largest regional referral populations in the Upper Midwest. Faculty rank and research expectations are flexible and will be tailored to your background and career goals.

Position Highlights:

  • Provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient oncology care with a subspecialty focus in GI malignancies
  • Participate in multidisciplinary GI tumor boards and disease-specific clinics, including telehealth
  • Develop and lead clinical trials and/or translational research initiatives aligned with personal academic interests
  • Collaborate with Masonic Cancer Center investigators to advance GI cancer therapeutics and translational science
  • Mentor medical students, residents, Hematology/Oncology fellows, and junior faculty
  • Contribute to academic scholarship through publications, presentations, and national scientific engagement
  • Participate in institutional and cancer center initiatives that advance clinical programs and research

About the Division:

The Division of Hematology, Oncology & Transplantation includes more than 50 faculty members across malignant hematology, blood and marrow transplantation, classical hematology, and solid tumor oncology. Faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for contributions in cellular therapy, immunotherapy, translational oncology, and clinical trial innovation. The division holds active NIH and American Society of Hematology training grants and maintains a deep commitment to mentoring the next generation of oncology investigators.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME fellowship-training program.
  • Board eligible/certified in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology/Oncology
  • Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of the VISA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellowship training or additional focus in gastrointestinal oncology
  • Clinical trial experience, including investigator-initiated research
  • Academic productivity demonstrated through publications, presentations, or grant activity
  • Interest in developing a disease focused clinical or translational research program in GI malignancies

Pay and Benefits:

This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is $270,000-$465,407 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE.  The salary from the University is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
