The Department of Neurology, led by Dr. Souhel Najjar, a world-renowned Neurologist, internationally recognized for his clinical, research and teaching expertise has seen tremendous growth over the past five years across all regions, with the goal of providing comprehensive, integrated health care and wellness services. Inclusion within the service line offers the opportunity to connect with a large group of neurologists, academic, teaching, world class grand rounds, conferences and the ability to discuss and share cases with experts in every subspecialty. The department brings together the vast resources of Northwell Health and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell to provide state-of-the-art care while contributing to advances in technology, education and research.
Lenox Hill Hospital, a 652- bed, acute care hospital located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, has earned a national reputation for outstanding patient care and innovative medical and surgical treatments. There is a joint neurology residency shared with Staten-Island University hospital. We collaborate closely with the psychiatry training programs, as the psychiatry residents spend 2 months on our service, and psychiatry consult liaison fellows spend elective time with us. Medical students spend a mandatory rotation in neurology with our inpatient services, and many electives students choose to join us as well. Our neuropsychology program trains fellows, externs and interns and provides essential diagnostic services to the rest of the neurology department.
Lenox Hill Hospital is also a recognized leader in public health education and community outreach. Patients come to us from Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Long Island, the tri-state area and even around the world.
