About Our Program
Our expanding center of excellence offers unparalleled opportunities for cardiovascular anesthesia. We’re proud to be an STS 3 Star CABG program and an accredited Mitral Valve Reference Center. We are the largest heart and lung transplant program in the state. Our top tier lung transplant outcomes rank number one in survival nationwide. Annually, we perform:
• 2,200 cardiothoracic procedures including robotics and minimally invasive approaches
• 30+ LVAD implantations
• 50 heart transplants
• 50 lung transplants
Our vascular surgery team leads advanced endovascular care, including TEVAR, transcatheter carotid stents, branched aortic aneurysm repair, and more. We thrive on multidisciplinary collaboration, bringing together anesthesiology, critical care, cardiac surgery, and cardiology for carefully tailored perioperative strategies. Our surgeons welcome anesthesiology input. With strong OR nursing and anesthesia tech support, providing high quality care in an enjoyable environment is the norm.
What You’ll Do
Provide anesthesia in both care team and solo practice models
Participate in a 1:5 call rotation, covering first through third call for cardiothoracic and vascular cases
Contribute to quality initiatives, periop optimization, and collaborative decision making across teams
Qualifications
Required Doctorate
LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology preferred or equivalent experience
Diplomat status in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography
Comfortable rotating between care team-based and autonomous anesthetic practices
