This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. The incumbent works independently within the service and reports to the service chief. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Primary responsibilities will include supervising teaching of the Radiology Resident Physicians. Perform standard IR procedures including drainage, biopsies, vascular access, and locoregional treatment for malignancy. Broad embolization experience will be helpful as will experience in advanced pain management techniques. Neuro vascular training will be highly valued. Greater than 50% of work assignments will be in Interventional Radiology. Interprets diagnostic digital radiography, CT, MRI and US examinations of the brain, spine, neck, body, extremities and internal organs as appropriate. Primary responsibilities will include supervising teaching of the Radiology Resident Physicians. Accesses studies for interpretation through the CAVHS Picture Archiving and Communications System(s) and reports findings electronically through the CAVHS voice-recognition dictation software. Communicates and documents communication of life-threatening findings immediately to referring physicians at remote facilities Functions in a professional manner in all relationships with management, co-workers and referring physicians. Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. Protects the data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. Follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc. Uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files; activating printers; inserting and deleting text, formatting letters, reports, and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving e-mail. Uses the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA) to access information in the Medical Center Computer System Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
