This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications and subsequent cut-off dates are on the 1st of each month. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled. The Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Full-Time Physician for Radiation Oncology within Diagnostic Imaging Service. The Radiation Oncology Section in Diagnostic Imaging Service is a part of a large, complex, VA Medical Center with consults and referrals from VISN Medical Centers and outpatient clinics. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties include, but are not limited to: Works with and is supported by Radiation Oncology Service leadership. Provides direct clinical and administrative oversight for mid-level practitioners, physics, dosimetry, radiation therapists and other clinical staff as assigned. Responsible for providing services in an efficient, high-quality, cost effective manner within budget allocation. Works directly with Chief, Radiation Oncology Service to assist in ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing. Participates in recruitment, hiring, evaluation and disciplinary actions for staff. Works with the Chief, Radiation Oncology Service, and other staff as appropriate, supports operations issues/problems resolution in a logical, stepwise fashion. Participates in a forum in which staff identifies, communicates, and resolves issues related to Radiation Oncology Service, Medical Center ancillary and support operations, and VISN-wide mandates. Works with the Chief, Radiation Oncology Service, and other disciplines as necessary to support, contribute to and implement policies, procedures, performance goals, strategic plans, and initiatives. Seeks and enhances opportunities to promote and strengthen the Medical Center's and VISN goals. Responsible for implementing the goal of improving care for patients within the Medical Center and VISN. Contributes to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of relations with internal and external entities including but not limited to medical and nursing schools, therapist training programs, local public and private health care entities, colleagues in other Patient Services and Integrated Services such as Information Technology, Laboratory, and Business Office, labor, and VISN. Participates in Radiation Oncology Service strategic planning. Participates in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings, or committees. Provides direct patient care as a consultant in outpatient clinics and/or inpatient wards and will participate in the Radiation Oncology Service on call schedule. Participates in regular peer review activities. Must be alert to patient's condition and disorders. Reactions on the part of the patient require immediate attention so harm does not come to the patient. Maintains patient records and files. Follows HIPPA guidelines regarding patient information. Ensures timely completion of daily clinic notes with accurate documentation and coding of service rendered. Practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self, in compliance with department and VA radiation safety procedures to maintain occupational exposures "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA). Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Subject to Change based on Agency Needs. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
