Our pediatric aerodigestive center - staffed by pediatric pulmonology, gastroenterology, and otolaryngology - opened in early 2026 and is growing rapidly. SIUH's Department of Pediatrics is a well-established and rapidly growing department, featuring a 20-bed inpatient pediatric unit supported by all pediatric subspecialties as well as pediatric general surgery, orthopedics, trauma, otolaryngology, and ophthalmology. Recent investments include the state-of-the-art Gruppuso Women & Infants Center (opened in 2025) and the ongoing construction of the Level III Joseph Maffeo Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (begun in 2026).
