About the Position: The Physician (Psychiatry) provides support to the A. T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir VA, helping ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and facility operations. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Provide psychiatric services to children/adolescents/adults, including inpatient, consultation liaison services, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency services, tele-psychiatric services, and routine/intensive outpatient services. Develop treatment plans and provide appropriate therapeutic treatment services that may include medication management, various individual therapy modalities, and group therapy. Monitor treatment through evidence-based medicine and alters course of treatment providing follow-up care for adult patients with mental health and behavioral disorders. Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment. Serve as member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various local and national meetings, committees, conferences, and/or boards Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) functions, performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and peer review programs. Makes recommendations on improvement of work methods and organizational features while serving on committees or working groups that review and establish new treatment guidelines or updates policy for mental health across the service component.
