POSITION DETAILS: The Salisbury VA Health Care System, located in Salisbury, North Carolina, is seeking a physician leader to serve as Section Chief of Psychiatry. This position is located at the Charlotte Health Care Center (HCC) in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Mental Health Service Line provides comprehensive psychiatric care across multiple settings, including inpatient units, ambulatory programs, specialized residential treatment for substance use disorders and PTSD, emergency department consultations, and geriatrics with extended care. As Section Chief, you will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for both inpatient and outpatient mental health services, supervising psychiatry staff and advanced clinical providers, participating in hospital committees, overseeing quality initiatives, and ensuring regulatory compliance across the department. You will play an integral role in teaching and mentoring psychiatry residents and interdisciplinary trainees, fostering a collaborative and educational environment. In addition to clinical and administrative oversight, you will work closely with other mental health supervisors to ensure the delivery of meaningful and effective treatments, serve as Acting Chief of Mental Health when required, and help drive continuous improvement through research and peer review activities. The selected candidate will be eligible for a faculty appointment with affiliated academic partners, with the expectation to participate in teaching, scholarship, and service.
