Full description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years). For additional information and eligibility requirements, contact the VHA Contract Buy Out Program Manager at vacontractbuyoutprog@va.gov. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Contact the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The physician practices in the General Medicine Service (GMS) to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The physician provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The physician practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position. The physician has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position. Major duties and responsibilities of the position: -Independently manages clinical care of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice using evidence-based practice via telephone, video, face to face visits and asynchronous care. -Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal panel population health and disease management. -Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. -Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies. -Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. -Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services. -Provides education to patients and their families. -Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes. -Performs procedures as trained and approved by clinical privileges. -Provides clinical guidance to mid-level providers. -Exemplifies the ICARE core values of-Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. - The incumbent will engage in population health and quality improvement efforts related to care of Veterans within the bounds of state law as defined by the board of professional licensure. - The incumbent will take part in continuing medical education (as defined by licensure), and quality assurance activities. - Responsible for coordinating with providers within their own and outside of their own Service Line, at the other divisions within the EKHCS structure and the CBOCs as determined by the plan of care for the veteran. Open, clear, and collaborative engagements are a key duty. Incumbent is ultimately responsible to ensure barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized to promote a positive work environment. Fosters positive working relationships with staff, peers and Veterans. - Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm

Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
