The VHA's mission is to "honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care to improve the health and well-being." VA New England leads the VHA's Primary Care initiative in employing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model to leverage evidence based standardized health care practices toward optimizing the unique contributions of each discipline on the PACT. The team aims to empower and equip patients to take charge of their health and well-being by offering complimentary and integrative health care approaches that enhance self-empowerment, self-healing, and self-care. Our smaller panel sizes, wide array of support services and virtual care options provide more flexibility for patients to engage in their own health care and with their team. Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting. Works collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting and embracing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care, utilizing Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence (ICARE) values throughout the clinic. Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish a diagnosis and initiate appropriate response to emergency health problems. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral. Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services. Initiate, evaluate, and change orders for medications. Follow Performance Measure guidelines, including completion of clinical reminders; access and timeliness standards; prescription order entry, National VA formulary Requirements, and customer service standards. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to clinic demands, adhere to personal and professional obligations and responsibilities. Practice and maintain ethical standards, and sustain a work environment that is harmonious and customer service oriented. Assists with arranging continuity of care across the VHA system as needed. Works to provide leadership on site to ensure care is completed in required timeframes. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. Participates and attends medical center committees as assigned. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Contact VHAEDRPProgramSupport@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: Full Time and Part Time U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). Veterans' Preference Note: Preference eligible candidates and other Veterans will be given preference when qualification of candidates are approximately equal for Title 38 positions in VHA.
