The Sleep Medicine Physician provides sleep-medicine care and oversees trainee education. Staff physicians must hold an MD or DO from a VA-approved school, complete an ACGME residency, and have an unrestricted U.S. license. Must be eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine. Maintain approved Sleep Medicine clinical privileges and required mandatory training. Apply sound clinical and administrative judgment aligned with professional standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective delivery of sleep-related care. Serve as attending for Sleep Medicine consults and participate in peer-review activities. Evaluate Sleep Medicine programs and lead improvements based on current evidence. Diagnose and manage a full spectrum of sleep disorders, including apnea, insomnia, hypersomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, parasomnias, and RLS. Conduct comprehensive sleep-focused assessments and develop individualized care plans. Provide education, supervision, and mentorship for medical trainees in Sleep Medicine. Support administrative and research activities, uphold documentation standards, and contribute to Sleep Medicine program development.
