The Cardiology Section at VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) invites applications for a full-time position as an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Cardiologist. The successful candidate will participate in advanced cardiac imaging studies such as cardiac CT, coronary CT angiography, cardiac MRI, and nuclear cardiac imaging (SPECT and PET). The position involves working with our Radiology program to advise on acquisition of the studies as well as coordinating the cardiac reports with other Cardiologists with skills in reading these studies. The candidate will also participate in reading echocardiography studies, and in our clinical general cardiology inpatient and outpatient services. The position involves teaching residents and cardiovascular disease fellows. The successful candidate must have completed formal training in advanced cardiac imaging and should have a track record in research in cardiac imaging or an equivalent academic area. Academic appointment at Harvard Medical School (HMS) as Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor will be provided commensurate with experience and accomplishments. VABHS is the major tertiary referral center for Veterans throughout New England and is strongly affiliated with Harvard Medical School and Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. The System comprises three major campuses and five community-based outpatient clinics. VABHS is the largest recipient of VA intramural research funds and ranks among the top VA facilities in total research funding, including VA's signature genetic repository, the Million Veteran Program, which offer significant collaborative opportunities. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Incentive may be offered to highly qualified, eligible applicants Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Contact VHAEDRPProgramSupport@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: Full-Time; Schedule to be determined with Supervisor U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
