Opportunity Overview Yukon Health and Social Services is seeking an additional full-time Pediatrician to join the Yukon Pediatric Service in Whitehorse. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other pediatricians and healthcare providers to deliver pediatric care to children and youth throughout Yukon. The opportunity includes outpatient clinical services, hospital-based pediatric care, shared on-call coverage and community outreach in rural Yukon. Program Description The Yukon Pediatric Service is a collaborative group of pediatricians providing pediatric care to children and youth through outpatient clinics, Yukon Hospital Corporation facilities and rural community outreach services. Pediatricians work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and community partners to support coordinated pediatric care and continuous pediatric service coverage throughout Yukon. Compensation

• Daily clinical rate: $2,746.84 per day for regular services
• Travel time for community outreach: $500 per day
• On-call compensation: Fee-for-service
• Other Expenses
• Accommodation, transportation costs and per diems for approved outreach activities within rural Yukon will be provided in accordance with travel reimbursement policy
• Provider is responsible for establishing or joining an existing clinic to provide outpatient services

• Benefits are provided through the Yukon Medical Association including
• Recruitment (up to $250,000 over 5 years for recruitment and recruitment into an Acute Care Service)
• Relocation (max $15,000),
• Overhead Support (up to $72,000 annually)
• CMPA reimbursement (100%),
• Parental benefit, locum support, CME and other benefits
• Shadow Billing
• All contracted physicians are required to shadow bill for insured services provided, either by paper claim or through an electronic format accepted by Insured Health Services.
• Start Date and Term
• The preferred start date is January 2027.
• The start date and contract term are negotiable. Finding the right candidate is a priority, and an alternative start date may be considered.
• Time Commitment
• The contract includes 116 service days annually including 13 weeks (91 days) of on-call service.
• The annual service commitment includes a combination of outpatient clinical services, hospital-based pediatric services, shared on-call coverage and outreach to rural Yukon.
• The detailed distribution and scheduling of service days will be discussed during the selection process and confirmed through the final service contract.
• Eligibility Requirements
• Ability to meet the following conditions is a contractual requirement and is required before the contract start date:
• Licensure with the Yukon Medical Council
• Privileging with Yukon Hospital Corporation
• Applicants who are not currently licensed in Yukon may apply but must be eligible to obtain the required licence and privileges before beginning the contract.

Qualifications

• Education and Licensing
• Certification in Pediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent qualifications acceptable to the Yukon Medical Council
• Eligible for licensure with the Yukon Medical Council
• Eligible for privileging with Yukon Hospital Corporation
• Maintain membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
• Expected Skills and Abilities
• Experience providing comprehensive pediatric care
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
• Experience providing consultation services to healthcare professionals
• Strong communication and care-coordination skills
• Commitment to culturally safe, patient- and family-centred care
• Ability to participate in community and outreach-based pediatric services
• Selection Process
• The selection process will follow the Tripartite Physician Selection Process which includes Government of Yukon, Yukon Medical Association and Yukon Hospital Corporation.
