Overview The Division of Pulmonary, Sleep, and Cystic Fibrosis at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University are seeking an early- to mid-career pediatric pulmonologist to join our distinguished faculty in Columbus, Ohio. The successful candidate will also serve as Director of Divisional Informatics, with 10% protected FTE dedicated to this leadership position. Nationwide Children’s Hospital provides a robust and rapidly evolving health information technology (HIT) infrastructure, including a comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) platform and advanced clinical systems that support high-quality patient care, quality improvement, and research across the lifespan. The institution is nationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, informatics innovation, and integration of data-driven practices into pediatric healthcare delivery. The Division of Pulmonary, Sleep, and Cystic Fibrosis currently has 23 faculty members with diverse academic and clinical interests. An ACGME-accredited three fellowship program welcomes two fellows per year. Supported by superb clinical infrastructure, the division had over 18,000 outpatient visits and 2,500 discharges in 2025. The Director of Divisional Informatics will provide leadership within the division to optimize the use of HIT systems, improving clinical workflows, advancing quality initiatives, and supporting research efforts. This individual will serve as a key liaison between divisional leadership, the Division of Clinical Informatics, and Information Services (IS), ensuring that technology solutions align with clinical and operational priorities. Ideal candidates for this academic position will demonstrate experience or strong interest in clinical informatics, health IT, or digital health transformation and have a track record of leadership, collaboration, and systems-based improvements. Responsibilities will include informatics strategy development, faculty support, developing innovative projects, and provision of clinical care. Qualifications include board certification in pediatric pulmonology with experience in clinical, basic, or translational research; experience in quality and safety initiatives; a distinguished record of accomplishment as a clinician and academician; a proven record of leadership and managerial responsibilities; and experience in mentorship of trainees or faculty. Collegiality and excellence in clinical service, academics and teaching of students, residents, fellows and referring physicians are essential characteristics of the Division’s next leader. Job Description Summary Provides medical care and treatment to patients. Job Description Essential Functions: Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions. Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support. Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals. Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required. Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care. Education Requirement: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required. Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required. Licensure Requirement: Medical License in the State of Ohio, required. Unrestricted licensed physician, required. Certifications: Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.
