We are seeking a physician who is passionate about advancing the clinical care of pediatric liver disease, liver transplantation, multidisciplinary care, education, and clinical research. Candidates with board eligibility/certification in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology are especially encouraged to apply.

As a Duke faculty member, you will become part of a collaborative team dedicated to improving the lives of children with complex liver, gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders. • Teach and mentor pediatric residents, fellows, and medical students
  • Work alongside nationally recognized physicians and researchers

Clinical Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care for children with acute and chronic liver disease and post-transplant follow-up
  • Participate in multidisciplinary transplant team collaborations with surgery, hepatology, nursing, social work, and pharmacy
  • Supervise and educate pediatric GI fellows, residents, and medical students
  • Conduct or collaborate on clinical and translational research in pediatric liver disease
  • Contribute to quality improvement, program development, and national/international professional activities
  • Assume leadership roles and direct clinical programs within the hepatology or transplant program over time

Why Duke Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition?

  • #1 in the nation for pediatric 1-year liver survival (SRTR, 2025)
  • 10+ multidisciplinary and subspecialty programs with fantastic nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, and other team members
  • Largest pediatric liver transplant and small bowel transplant program in North Carolina
  • Dedicated transplant hepatology inpatient admitting service at Duke University Hospital
  • Collegial, growing division with 12+ faculty
  • Rapidly expanding NIH-funded (3 R01s, K24, U01), PCORI, and industry-funded extramural research portfolio
  • ACGME-accredited pediatric GI fellowship with 100% board pass rate

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have:

  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatric Gastroenterology
