West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System's Surgery Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician (Orthopedic Surgery). Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center.
This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Provides preliminary diagnoses and directs, prescribes, or administers treatments, arranging specialized care or patient referrals as needed. Actively engages in the Emergency and On-Call schedule for Orthopedics. Offers comprehensive operative and non-operative management for spine patients, encompassing prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services. Manages patients throughout their inpatient care, collaborating with consultants as necessary and conducting inpatient consultations for patients from other services. Oversees personal outpatient clinics; assesses patients' medications, diet, therapy progress, adherence to management plans, and patient observations; adjusts management plans as necessary; and provides necessary instructions and counseling to patients. Serves as a consultant to primary care physicians and accepts referrals and outpatient consultations from other providers. Functions in a teaching capacity by educating others (patients, staff, trainees, and/or seminar participants, etc.) in the assessment, treatment, management and evaluation of spinal disorders. Refers patients when necessary, collaborates closely with allied health professionals, and takes part in the Surgical Department Quality Assurance and Peer Review programs Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm(Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor.
