Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), in collaboration with Brockton Hospital and Signature Healthcare, seek applications and nominations for the position of Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the Department of Orthopedics at Brockton Hospital, a core member of the Signature Healthcare community healthcare system in Southeastern Massachusetts, and a Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) partner institution. Signature Healthcare is a non-profit, safety net, community health system that includes Brockton Hospital and Signature Medical Group. Brockton Hospital is a 216-bed community Hospital founded in 1896, servicing Brockton and the surrounding community for over 125 years. Signature Medical Group is a multispecialty physician group with more than 150 providers practicing across 11 ambulatory locations. Our Primary Care Physicians have 100,000 patients under their care, providing referrals to 20 specialties. The practice location offers the ideal balance of community-based care and access to major metropolitan resources, situated within an hour of Boston, Providence, and Cape Cod. The Department of Orthopedics at Brockton Hospital has 11 Orthopedic Surgeons, 9 of them operative, and 9 PAs addressing all general and subspecialty orthopedic care at 2 regional affiliated practice sites: Brockton and East Bridgewater. Applicants should have a proven record of significant clinical accomplishment and demonstrate the leadership skills to nurture and enhance the clinical portfolios of one of the strongest community-based Orthopedic Departments in Boston. This individual will have far-reaching and impactful leadership responsibilities across Brockton, Signature Healthcare, and its local affiliates. The new leader will further develop program collaborations and strategies with BIDMC and BILH. Therefore, they must have strong administrative, operational, financial, and communication acumen to engage with institutional, departmental, and divisional leaders, and the BIDMC and BILH community. Candidates must have completed and accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency and have specialized fellowship training in orthopedics. Board certification or eligibility through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery is also required. The candidate should expect to dedicate 60% of their time to clinical practice and the rest to administrative leadership responsibilities. Clinical practice will be primarily based at Brockton Hospital, with the possibility of privileges at other affiliated BILH institutions as may be required for treatment of complex cases requiring tertiary care. The position does not offer academic appointment, but candidates interested in academic activities may participate via Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s orthopedic academic programs. A competitive base salary will be offered with incentives for clinical productivity and leadership roles. A robust package of benefits is also provided through HMFP.
