This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT & will remain open until July 27, 2027 or until positions are filled. Qualified applications received will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards. Reporting to the Chief of Ophthalmology, this physician provides comprehensive ophthalmic care across outpatient, inpatient, consultation, and surgical settings while supporting the full continuum of care for adult and geriatric Veterans. The position offers a broad clinical scope based on the physician's training, privileges, licensure, and demonstrated competency. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating complex eye conditions, participating in hospital rounds and interdisciplinary conferences, providing consultations throughout the medical center, and maintaining active specialty practice. This role also provides meaningful academic and leadership opportunities, including direct supervision and mentorship of residents in clinical and surgical environments, performance evaluation, competency-based feedback, and potential participation in physician recruitment and resident selection. The ideal candidate is board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology, eligible for an academic appointment, and committed to delivering high-quality, Veteran-centered care in a collaborative teaching environment. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
