Full description

Seattle Children’s Fetal Center is seeking an experienced Maternal-Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our multidisciplinary team in Seattle. This unique role offers the opportunity to work alongside nationally recognized fetal surgeons and maternal-fetal medicine specialists, providing advanced diagnostic imaging and procedural support for complex, high-risk pregnancies.

The successful candidate will perform comprehensive fetal ultrasound examinations in both outpatient and operative settings, supporting the diagnosis, management, and treatment of a wide range of fetal conditions. Ultrasound services include detailed anatomic surveys, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) evaluations, fetal Doppler studies, and advanced fetal assessments. In the operating room, the sonographer will provide real-time ultrasound guidance for fetal interventions, including laser ablation for TTTS, fetal shunt placements, intrauterine transfusions (IUTs), and other specialized fetal procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ultrasound guidance for both office-based and operating room fetal procedures, including amniocentesis, fetal shunt placement, intrauterine transfusion (IUT), laser ablation for TTTS, and other fetal interventions.

  • Perform detailed maternal-fetal ultrasound examinations, including comprehensive fetal anatomy assessments, biometry, functional evaluations, and arterial and venous Doppler studies.

  • Conduct and accurately document specialized examinations, including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome evaluations, fetal cardiac function assessments, and other advanced fetal imaging studies.

  • Perform basic and detailed obstetric ultrasound examinations throughout all three trimesters, utilizing both transabdominal and transvaginal scanning techniques.

  • Review patient history, clinical information, and provider requests to ensure appropriate examination protocols and optimal patient care.

  • Acquire, process, and manipulate advanced 3D and 4D ultrasound imaging as clinically indicated.

  • Provide portable bedside ultrasound examinations when requested by attending physicians.

  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices, emerging technologies, and diagnostic approaches related to fetal conditions and maternal-fetal surgical interventions.

  • Collaborate closely with fetal surgeons, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary fetal care team.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to departmental, regulatory, and patient safety standards.

Why Join Seattle Children’s Fetal Center?

As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in the care of patients with complex fetal conditions while working in one of the nation's leading fetal care programs. This position offers the rare opportunity to combine advanced diagnostic sonography with direct participation in cutting-edge fetal surgical procedures, helping improve outcomes for mothers and their babies.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Completion of and graduation from a formal AMA approved ultrasound technology program, or equivalent experience. (AMA is the approver of CAAHEP accreditation; please refer to CAAHEP site to view complete listing of accredited programs).
