The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Carilion Clinic, headquartered in Roanoke, VA, is excited to announce the availability of a full-time faculty position to join a well-established community-based practice of 5 Board-Certified OB/GYN's, 5 Advanced Clinical Practitioners and a Certified Nurse Midwife with Carilion Women's located in Christiansburg, Virginia. The new faculty member will have a full spectrum general obstetric and gynecologic practice at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, a 146-bed acute-care medical center with excellent support staff and a medical staff of 280 physicians, representing a broad range of specialists, and a Level II Nursery. The practice averages 70-75 deliveries and 20-25 non-obstetrical surgeries per month. Call currently 1:5 and will be 1:6 or better with new physician. Ground and air transportation is also available to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with Level III Nursery and 60-bed NICU, located in Roanoke, VA. The practice has a strong partnership with the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, located in Blacksburg, where all physicians are adjunct faculty. Opportunities are also available for physicians interested in research and partnership with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine located on our Roanoke campus. Virginia's New River Valley region comprises Radford, Christiansburg, Blacksburg and small surrounding towns, with a population of 185,000. It offers an unparalleled combination of city convenience, beautiful scenery, and an active outdoor environment. Each city has distinguishing characteristics, from being home to Virginia Tech or Radford University, to lakefront property on nearby Claytor Lake, all within 15 minutes. Enjoy many yearlong outdoor activities and the many cultural activities associated with a university setting. Carilion s network of multi-specialty clinics is scattered throughout the region, linked together with a sophisticated, full integrated electronic medical record system (EPIC) which offers physicians faster access to patient information and history, making it easier for physicians to devote adequate time to patient care and excellent access to subspecialty consultation. Carilion Clinic is the largest not-for-profit integrated health system serving one million people in western Virginia, with 7 hospitals, 248 physician practice sites, and 29 GME programs and a network of 800+ multi-specialty physicians in over 80 specialties. Requirements for this position include the following: MD/DO, Completion of ACGME/AOA-approved OB/GYN Residency program with board certification or be an active candidate for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
