The Department of Neurology at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) - a major academic medical center within the Hackensack Meridian Health network - is seeking full-time BE/BC Cognitive / Behavioral Neurologists to join the Center for Memory Loss & Brain Health. We are looking to fill both junior and senior positions, with the Senior-level candidate serving as Center Co-Director. The successful candidates will have completed a Neurology residency and a UCNS accredited Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry fellowship. Roles at the Dementia Center and faculty rank at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine are commensurate with experience. The clinical focus is on patients at risk for dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. Candidates must have interest in outcomes research, basic & translational research, clinical trials, and teaching of medical students and neurology, psychiatry, and geriatrics residents. For the senior role, candidates need to show clinical, programmatic, and academic leadership experience. The Center espouses an interprofessional approach in which neurologists, geriatricians, psychiatrists, neuro- & health psychologists, social workers and rehab therapists who are cognizant of health care disparities provide patient-centered care, accurate diagnoses, state-of-the-art treatment, opportunities for clinical trial participation, and to maximize community living and prevent caregiver burn-out. We are a site in the CMS GUIDE program, an alternate payment model to provide comprehensive dementia care to patients and caregivers living in the community and help improve outcomes like ED visits, hospitalizations and long-term placement.
This position will be jointly recruited by the 2 Center leaders, Florian P. Thomas, MD, PhD, Professor & Chair of the Neuroscience Institute & Department of Neurology at HUMC & the School of Medicine, and Manisha Parulekar, MD, Director, Division of Geriatrics at HUMC & Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the School.
