Overview The Division of Neonatology at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine are seeking a board-eligible or board-certified neonatologist to join our Comprehensive Center for Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (CCBPD). Candidates at any rank will be considered for this position. Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) has one of the largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit networks in the country, caring for more than 3,000 babies each year. The CCBPD in-patient unit is a 24-bed ICU at NCH dedicated solely to the care of patients with established BPD. The CCBPD in-patient unit is currently staffed by 7 neonatologists and 8 APRNs. Neonatologists also provide expert consultative services both to NCH providers and via phone/virtual consultative services to providers throughout the world. At least half of the successful candidate’s clinical time will be spent on the CCBPD in-patient service, with the remainder divided between Level III and/or IV care as per request. The CCBPD also offers a 1-year advanced fellowship in BPD Medicine and the NPM Fellows at NCH rotate through the CCBPD in-patient unit such that there are ample opportunities for teaching. The CCBPD also has an active research program that the candidate can be involved in as desired. The CCBPD is home to the international BPD Collaborative and NCH is a member of the CHNC and VON. Candidates for this position should have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, be board-eligible or board-certified in Neonatology and obtain or maintain a license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio. A clinical interest in BPD management is required, while clinical experience caring for patients with severe BPD is desired. Given the chronic nature of the care provided in our BPD unit, candidates should have effective communication skills and a passion for working with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering the best health care for BPD infants and their families. Job Description Summary Provides medical care and treatment to patients. Job Description Essential Functions: Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions. Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support. Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals. Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required. Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care. Education Requirement: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required. Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required. Licensure Requirement: Medical License in the State of Ohio, required. Unrestricted licensed physician, required. Certifications: Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.
