Locum Tenens Physician Job Details Specialty: Pediatric Hospitalist Physician Practice Setting: Hospital-based pediatric and newborn care Employment Type: Per diem locum tenens Location: Henderson, North Carolina Start Date: December 1, 2026 Initial Coverage Period: December 1-2, 2026, with ongoing coverage needs indicated Patient Volume: Approximately 2-5 patient encounters per shift Department Size: 16 beds Openings: 1 Weekly Estimated Pay: $6,480-$7,670 Pediatric Hospitalist Physician Job Requirements Medical degree and current physician credentials At least 1 year of experience providing pediatric hospitalist care or comparable pediatric acute-care services Eligible for board certification; board certification is not required Required certifications: ABLS, ACLS, BLS, and PALS Required pediatric clinical skills, including newborn and pediatric ventilation management, non-invasive ventilation management, endotracheal or nasotracheal intubation, conscious sedation, central and arterial line management, chest tube insertion, X-ray interpretation, EKG interpretation, minor laceration repair, and circumcision Preferred experience with deep sedation, UVC and UAC placement, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, needle pneumothorax decompression, exchange transfusion, PA catheter management, and swallow studies Pediatric Hospitalist Physician Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and treat newborn and pediatric patients in a hospital-based setting Complete approximately 2-5 patient encounters per shift while providing attentive, evidence-based pediatric care Manage acute and chronic respiratory needs, including non-invasive ventilation and newborn and pediatric ventilator support Perform and support procedures such as intubation, central and arterial line placement or management, chest tube insertion, and conscious sedation Interpret X-rays and EKGs and recognize changes requiring prompt intervention Provide appropriate care for pediatric emergencies, including pneumothorax management and other acute conditions Perform minor procedures, including laceration repair and circumcision, as clinically indicated Collaborate with nursing, specialty, and ancillary teams to support safe transitions of care and positive patient outcomes Apply now for this locum tenens Pediatric Hospitalist Physician opportunity in Henderson, North Carolina, near the Raleigh-Durham region.
