Full description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Board "eligible" or Board certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician. The Physician is responsible for managing the full spectrum of primary care responsibilities including admission from an outpatient site, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, consultation for patients presenting with general medicine complaints and diseases. To manage primary care patients the following will be necessary; ordering appropriate labe work, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, requesting consultations to specialty services, providing appropriate follow-up care, and referral of patients with non-medicine complaints, diseases, and injuries to appropriate disciplines for diagnosis and treatment. Tasks Performed Reviews information from outside providers Conducts history and physical exam Assesses patient's clinical condition Formulates treatment plans Completes provider-specific clinical reminders Reviews test and procedure results Completes patient referrals in CPRS Manages patient's medication Gives medical and lifestyle advice and counseling Direct Patient Care Responsibilities Completes view alerts Follows-up on patient-related information Calls patients and family on the telephone Sends and receives secure messages from patients Discusses cases with consultants and with PACT team Reviews and acts on non-VA medical records Completes forms/paperwork The provider participates in all PACT team meetings and other team activities Collaborates with NP and PA providers and directs care for the panel May also perform Supervise and train medical students, residents and other learners Conduct clinical research studies Involvement in quality management and patient safety involving primary care Data analysis related to primary care clinical operations Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am-4:30 pm U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
