Clinical Role

Join an established hospital in Irvine, Kentucky, providing inpatient hospitalist coverage during a physician's vacation. This locums opportunity combines daytime onsite coverage with after-hours beeper call while caring for an adult patient population in a Level IV hospital with a collaborative healthcare team.

Assignment Details

Coverage Dates:

August 6, 2026 (8:00 AM) - August 10, 2026 (8:00 AM)

Coverage Requirements:

One hospitalist provider

Vacation coverage

Schedule:

Onsite hospital coverage

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM daily

After-hours beeper call when not onsite

Call Schedule:

• Beeper/phone call coverage
• Call ratio: Approximately 3-6 calls
• No anticipated callback hours

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

Hospital-Based Inpatient

Calls from affiliated nursing home

Patient Population:

• 100% Adult
• Approximately 50% Geriatric

Patient Volume:

Approximately 14 patients per day

Facility Details:

• Level IV hospital
• Medical unit coverage
• 1 ICU bed

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide inpatient hospitalist coverage
• Manage adult medical admissions and daily rounding
• Respond to nursing home calls as needed
• Coordinate patient care with nursing and ancillary staff
• Provide after-hours beeper call coverage
• Document patient care using Epic EMR

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine - Required
• Active Kentucky Medical License - Required
• ACLS Certification - Required
• BLS Certification - Required
• DEA Registration - Required
