SUMMARY

MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor to join the Department of General Internal Medicine within the Division of Internal Medicine. This faculty position offers the opportunity to develop a comprehensive clinical practice while contributing to a collaborative academic environment focused on excellence in patient care, education, and clinical research.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Department of General Internal Medicine is dedicated to improving the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors through integrated medical care. The department strives to become a leading authority in clinical care, education, and research focused on the general internal medicine needs of oncology patients. As part of MD Anderson's multidisciplinary approach, faculty provide comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of non-cancer medical conditions while working closely with oncology teams throughout the continuum of cancer care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Care

• Provide comprehensive internal medicine care for patients referred to the Department of General Internal Medicine.
• Develop and maintain a robust clinical practice within MD Anderson Cancer Center.
• Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, develop treatment plans, and coordinate appropriate consultations and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with institutional policies.
• Communicate effectively with referring physicians and multidisciplinary care teams.

Education

• Foster a collaborative teaching environment for residents, fellows, medical students, and other trainees.
• Participate in departmental conferences, continuing medical education activities, and educational programs.
• Serve as a mentor and role model for learners in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.

Research

• Participate in clinical research and scholarly activities that enhance the academic mission of the department.
• Collaborate in the development and implementation of clinical research initiatives.
• Contribute to publications, presentations, and other scholarly work.
• Pursue funding opportunities to support clinical research and academic initiatives, when appropriate.

Service & Leadership

• Represent the Department of General Internal Medicine through institutional, regional, and national professional activities.
• Participate on departmental and institutional committees.
• Provide peer review and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Promote collaboration, professionalism, and excellence in patient care, education, and research.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE

Required:

• M.D., D.O., or equivalent medical degree.
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Eligible for or licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency program.
