VA Central California Health Care System is currently seeking a full-time Physician - Hospitalist - Nocturnist. The incumbent reports to the Chief Hospitalist of the Specialty Care Service team. This position is critical to the VA's mission to provide high-quality, Veteran-centered care. **This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 25th, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be July 20th, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Responsibilities include providing overnight inpatient care, supervising Residents admissions, responding to acute events, performing cross-cover duties, and ensuring continuity of care during night hours. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Perform all overnight admissions. Provide cross-coverage for all medical inpatients. Evaluate and respond to acute overnight clinical issues. Collaborate with nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and ancillary departments. Supervise residents and trainees assigned to night duty. Complete timely documentation, including admission notes, event notes, and cross cover assessments. Ensure complete handoff to the daytime Hospitalist team. Other duties as assigned. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
