Position Summary
The facility is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join its established Hospital Medicine team as a Nocturnist.
Physicians will provide comprehensive inpatient care for hospitalized adult patients while working alongside a collaborative team of hospitalists, specialists, advanced practice providers, and support staff. The position offers strong specialty backup, modern hospital resources, and an opportunity to practice in a high-quality regional referral center.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to hospitalized adult patients during night shifts
Perform admissions, evaluations, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions
Respond to overnight patient care needs and coordinate appropriate treatment plans
Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary care teams
Manage patient transitions of care and ensure continuity of treatment
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practices
Support patient safety, clinical efficiency, and exceptional patient outcomes
Qualifications
Education
M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school
Completion of an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program
Licensure & Certification
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Eligible for or holding an active Alabama medical license
Current ACLS certification preferred
