The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Senior Medical Advisor to the Director, Air Force Review Boards Agency, on recommended actions being considered by all boards operating within the AFRBA, as required by Title 10 USC Section 1552 on behalf of the Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF) and the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force Manpower and Reserve Affairs. Incumbent is responsible for Air Force medical advisement to the Director of the Air Force Review Boards Agency, the Medical Directorate staff, Boards where medical issues are present, and the Legal Directorate staff when legal issues entwine with medical issues, e.g., "Dual-Action" reviews, requiring knowledge, interpretation, and proper execution of medical and administrative policies, with consideration for precedent decisions. Recognized for and exercises a high degree of professional leadership in the medical specialty. Represents the AFRBA and/or SAF/MR on specific and related medical issues at Joint, DoD, and interdepartmental levels, and with the private sector. Plans and develops training, monitoring, evaluation and review programs to maximize awareness, determine effectiveness, and promulgate standardization of consistent and competent medical reviews throughout the AFRBA.
