Geisinger is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Infectious Disease Physician to join our growing and collaborative Infectious Disease team. This is an exciting opportunity to practice within a nationally recognized, physician-led health system committed to innovation, quality, education and patient-centered care.
The successful candidate will join a comprehensive Infectious Disease program providing expert consultation and management of complex infectious diseases across inpatient and outpatient settings. Opportunities for medical education, quality initiatives, antimicrobial stewardship, research and professional growth may be available based on individual interests.
Job Duties:
The Infectious Disease Physician will:
- Diagnose and manage infectious diseases affecting all organ systems, including complex infections requiring specialized antimicrobial therapy.
- Provide consultation and treatment for patients with HIV/AIDS, unexplained fevers, healthcare-associated infections and travel-related infectious diseases.
- Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform detailed clinical evaluations.
- Order, perform and interpret diagnostic testing as clinically appropriate.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage antimicrobial therapies and other medications.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Comply with all organizational policies, procedures and professional standards.
Position Details:
- Primarily inpatient Infectious Disease practice, with outpatient responsibilities as needed.

Required
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
- Completion of an accredited Infectious Disease fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease
- Eligible for unrestricted Pennsylvania medical licensure
- Excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- Experience managing complex infectious disease cases
- Interest in teaching, research or antimicrobial stewardship
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety and patient-centered care
