Physician is expected to provide comprehensive patient care in the form of invasive, non-invasive, consultative, and inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology patient care at the CGVAMC. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized for Highly Qualified Applicants. This is an Open-Continuous announcement that will remain open until the position is filled. Duties include but are not limited to the following: The incumbent physician is expected to provide comprehensive patient care in the form of invasive, non-invasive, consultative, and inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology patient care at the CGVAMC, Asheville, NC. The incumbent is accountable to the Chief of Gastroenterology section assuring the most effective delivery of care in services within Medical Service. Operates or directs the operation of diagnostic equipment for medical procedures which includes: Current BLS/ACLS required Moderate Sedation Privileges and certification required Fluoroscopy privileges and certification Upper Endoscopy Lower Endoscopy Paracentesis ERCP Manometry desirable but not required Consultative input to outpatient and inpatient care, including Hepatitis C therapies. Collaborate with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation. Performs the administrative components of patient care management, such as: Participate in the educational programs for the section personnel as well as the medical staff. Participate in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level. Miscellaneous activities of the Medical Service inclusive, but not limited to special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief of gastroenterology/Chief of Medicine/Chief of Staff and the Charles George VAMC Executive Leadership Attend Gastroenterology team meetings - Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews Attend Medicine Service monthly staff meetings and COS quarterly meetings as per bylaws Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff Participate in Medical Staff committee assignments Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Medicine, his Associate and or Section Chief of Gastroenterology. Participate in, and attend, CME activities and VA continuing educational activities Customer Services: Relationships with management, co-workers, patients, and the general public are consistently courteous, respectful, and cooperative in nature Employee will display a cooperative attitude and will effectively work together to implement the organization's mission and goals Employee will ensure productivity is maintained at the established level Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized for Highly Qualified Applicants. Education Debt Reduction Program: EDRP Authorized: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive. Contact VHA.ELRSProgramSupport@va.gov the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Telework: Ad-hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Remote: This is not a remote position Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm - Monday - Friday (Full-time) U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
