Riverside Health is currently seeking a Full-Time Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director to join our team at Riverside Regional Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Newport News, Virginia.
This leadership opportunity averages 16 hours per week for the director to shape the future of community Emergency Medicine training while maintaining a supportive and collaborative academic clinical environment. The remaining contract hours will be spent working in the Emergency Department.

Position Summary
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director serves as the physician leader responsible for the oversight, administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. The Program Director ensures adherence to all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and provides leadership in resident education, faculty development, clinical learning environment oversight, scholarly activity, and program evaluation.
This position averages 16 hours per week dedicated to residency program leadership responsibilities. The Program Director reports to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for their academic role.
Our program began in 2019 and has maintained continued accreditation throughout its life. Riverside has been training residents since the 1950s with programs in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynecology. We also have a credentialed Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Fellowship based out of the Emergency Department.
