Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality emergency medical care to patients within a modern, 32-bed Emergency Department.
Manage a highly comfortable patient pace averaging fewer than two encounters per hour.
Collaborate seamlessly with a second on-duty physician, maintaining double-physician coverage at all times.
Efficiently stabilize and coordinate transfers for high-acuity trauma and major cardiac cases ("no heads, no hearts") to tertiary care partners.
Work a predictable rotation of 15 shifts per month utilizing three structured 10-hour blocks (6:00 AM-4:00 PM, 1:00 PM-11:00 PM, or 4:00 PM-2:00 AM).
Coordinate patient care with on-site specialties, including the hospital’s dedicated inpatient psychiatric department.
Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely electronic medical records for all patient encounters.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Emergency Medicine (or a relevant specialty with extensive ED experience).
Active, unrestricted Illinois state medical license (or immediate eligibility to obtain).
Valid DEA registration.
