To plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area.
About the Role
We are actively seeking pediatric emergency medicine physicians to join our division at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University School of Medicine. Our team, consisting of pediatric emergency medicine physicians, acute care pediatricians, and advanced practice providers, cares for children at Arthur M. Blank Hospital and Hughes Spalding Hospital. As a member of our division, you will be faculty at Emory University and part of the largest pediatric clinical care provider in the country.
Division Highlights

• Children’s Emergency Departments are among the busiest in the nation, managing more than 136,650 visits annually.
• Arthur M. Blank Hospital Emergency Department has 69 beds, including rooms for behavioral and mental health and trauma patients. It houses a Special Care Unit for highly infectious disease cases and is the only freestanding Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Georgia verified by the American College of Surgeons.
• Hughes Spalding Hospital Emergency Department consists of 36 beds, including a trauma room.
• Our critical care transport team transfers patients needing inpatient critical care.
• We are a national leader in pediatric trauma care and the primary pediatric teaching hospital for medical students, residents and fellows from Emory University and Morehouse Schools of Medicine.
• We oversee highly competitive fellowship training programs in pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric emergency medicine ultrasound and pediatric urgent care.
• We lead research in the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) and collaborate with the Gulf 7 Pediatric Disaster Network (G7).

Experience

• No minimum experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the respective clinical area.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited, four‑year medical school.
• Graduate of an accredited, post‑graduate residency program in Pediatrics.

Certification Summary

• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
• Current ATLS certification required.
• BLS or PALS certification required.
• Current DEA registration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
• Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.
• Demonstrates personal organization, time management, human relations, teamwork, adaptability, motivation, and listening.

Job Responsibilities

• Provides patient care within the respective clinical area in compliance with Professional Staff Bylaws, rules, regulations, and Children’s policies and procedures.
• Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
• Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
• Educates and assists trainees with medical decision making.
• Produces authenticated reports of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate records.
• Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
• Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
• Participates in meetings and activities as required to support clinical area operations.
• Maintains certifications in BLS, PALS, or NALS and any additional mandatory specialty training.
• Performs other responsibilities as required.
