Emergency Medicine Physician Role Overview:

As an Emergency Medicine Physician at the Fresno VA, you will deliver high-quality emergency care to veterans. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients presenting with a variety of acute medical conditions. You will work collaboratively with an experienced team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and timely care for our veteran patients. The Physician position is located in our Emergency Department, which is organizationally aligned under the Primary Care Service, at the Fresno VA, Fresno, California.

The Fresno VA provides a full range of patient care services, as well as education. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, secondary, and long-term care in the areas of primary care, specialty medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. The Fresno VA is affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco Fresno Medical Education Program and offers a rich academic environment that includes postgraduate medical education training for residents and fellows in specialties and sub-specialties.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess and stabilize patients presenting to the Emergency Department Diagnose and manage acute medical conditions and injuries Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures Collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans Provide inpatient consultations and outpatient follow-up care as needed Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient encounters Educate and mentor residents, medical students, and other healthcare trainees
