Provide recommendations on additional diagnostic or treatment procedures in clinical conferences and/or discussions with staff physicians. Direct and provide oversight of the operation of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to include nurses, paramedics, paraprofessionals, administrative and ambulance personnel and pre-hospital medical management of patients. Provide consultative advice on professional and administrative matters concerning patient care in the Emergency Department. Make recommendations regarding changes to policies, procedures and programs needed for efficient department operations. Provide a broad range of medical diagnosis, treatment, counseling, services and referrals to primary care and specialty clinics. Basic Requirement for Physician (Emergency Medicine) Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
