The Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) has an opportunity for an Intensivist with a strong cardiac interest and experience or a Cardiologist with critical care experience and/or training to join a team of collegial and highly trained Cardiac ICU staff at Hartford Hospital. Care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease that can include pre- and postoperative care, heart transplant and/or a ventricular assist device (VAD), acute mechanical circulatory support (ECMO cannulation, Impella, and intra-aortic balloon pumps), and cardiogenic shock. Opportunities for involvement in our ECMO program. Leadership opportunities within our ECMO program with appropriate level of experience. Cannulation experience preferred but not required. Educational opportunities with APPs, cardiology fellows, critical care fellows, residents, and interns. Successful candidate will be able to place chest tubes and perform bronchoscopy and emergent intubations. The Hartford Hospital critical care unit is staffed with highly trained advanced practitioners and fellows. The Heart & Vascular Institute is one of the strongest programs in the country. The Cardiac Surgery service performs approximately 1500 surgeries per year. The Advanced Heart Failure Service is one of the largest in New England with one of the highest post-transplant survival rates in the nation. HHC HVI performs on average 40 transplants a year.
