Perform specialty specific procedures including but not limited to: Arterial/venous blood sampling, thoracentesis, arterial and venous catheter placement, placement of central venous lines/acute dialysis catheters/PA catheters, intubation, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, lumbar puncture, joint aspiration, placement of NG/feeding tubes, aspiration of subcutaneous fluid collections, bladder catheterizations, and performing portable ultrasound. Services will be rendered in the following patient care areas: Medical Intensive Care Unit, and Coronary Care Unit.

Consultative services will be provided in other inpatient and outpatient areas throughout the facility including Emergency Department, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, General Medicine and Surgical Units, and outpatient Pulmonary Clinics.

Contract Physicians shall be 1) Board Certified or 2) Board Eligible and less than four (4) years out of Residency, 3) and have current certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

May operate with a license in any state, territory or commonwealth in the United States. The provider shall hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree from an accredited college or university approved by the Department of Education.

The contract physician will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to patients in the Primary Care setting.

The contract physician is required to make physician-to-physician contact calls with private and client physicians regarding referral of patients and to make telephone arrangements with appropriate physicians at tertiary care medical centers to arrange for referral of patients to other medical centers.

The contract physician will be required to enter all notes, request diagnostic tests, consultative requests, order medications and resulting reports into the computerized patient record system (CPRS) on the day of the visit. In the event of computer system failure, the physician must maintain sufficient written or typed information to allow for entry in CPRS at a later time. Documentation is expected to meet medical center policies/Clinical Practice Guideline and Joint Commission/HCFA standards for documentation and subsequent coding. The physician needs a strong working knowledge of computers/skills to access the computerized patient record system (CPRS) utilized by the client. CPRS orientation will be provided to the new provider, but this training cannot compensate for limited exposure to computers and poor data entry skills.
