He/she/they will perform this in the inpatient setting primarily within the surgical intensive care unit (SICU). The provider will be part of a multidisciplinary team within the SICU and will be required to have strong interpersonal interaction skills. The nature of the job requires timely and effective communication with a variety of consultants, the Tele-ICU, and surgical services as part of the comprehensive care of patients with critical illness. Assesses and manages critically ill perioperative patients in the surgical intensive care unit. Serves a patient population of simple to highly complex patients with significant comorbidities who are awaiting or have undergone diverse surgical procedures. Identify and intervene upon patients who have deviated from the expected postoperative recovery trajectory. As necessary, perform routine invasive procedures common to critical care practice areas.
