This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Physician (Urology). The Physician (Urology) will function in Surgical Service. VA Healthcare System Serving Ohio, Indiana and Michigan (VISN 10) advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest. Contact Contact vhaedrpprogramsupport@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Admit, evaluate, diagnose, provide consultation and surgically treat adults and geriatric ambulatory and hospitalized patients at the Cleveland VA Medical Center with diseases/disorders of the genitourinary tract and its contents, including skin and soft tissues. Ordering and providing preliminary interpretation of appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. Conducting and documenting goals of care discussions, implementing palliative and end of life care when appropriate including ordering appropriate code status and life sustaining treatment orders. Assess, stabilize and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions. Privileges also include supervision, teaching, and involvement of medical students, trainees, residents, and fellows in the same setting. This list is a sampling of procedures you may perform. This is not intended to be an all-encompassing list but rather reflective of the categories/types of potential procedures: Adrenal surgery Kidney surgery, including renal collecting system related surgery Ureteral surgery, including stone related surgery Bladder surgery, including lymph node dissection related surgery and urinary diversion related surgery Retroperitoneal surgery, including lymph node dissection and mass removal- Urethral surgery, including urethral reconstruction- Penile surgery, including inguinal lymphadenectomy Prostate surgery, including pelvic lymph node dissection Scrotal surgery, including testis, tunica vaginalis, spermatic cord, vas deferens, and epididymis- Vaginal surgery related to urinary tract Endoscopic surgery, including cystoscopy and ureteroscopy Laser surgery, related to urolithiasis and bladder stone, and various genitourinary neoplasm treatment Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday (Variable at supervisor discretion) U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. First Area of Consideration (Facility Employees) - Current, permanent VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System employees (this includes Outpatient Clinics, permanent employees of the Veteran Canteen Service assigned to this facility, Office of Information & Technology employees assigned to this facility, CPAC bargaining unit employees located at the Cleveland VAMC, and Virtual CBOPC bargaining unit employees under station 741 located at the Cleveland VAMC. Second Area of Consideration (Other VA Employees) - Current, permanent Department of Veterans Affairs Employees (VA employees who are located somewhere other than the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System). Third Area of Consideration (External Candidates) - All other United States Citizens. The Department of Veterans Affairs performs pre-employment reference checks as an assessment method used in the hiring process to verify information provided by a candidate (e.g., on resume or during interview or hiring process); gain additional knowledge regarding a candidate's abilities; and assist a hiring manager with making a final selection for a position.
