The Manchester VA Medical Center is now looking for a Board Certified Infectious Disease Physician to fulfill a part-time position that is primarily located at the Manchester, NH facility. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule / travel to the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) locations throughout New Hampshire.
The Infectious Disease (ID) Physician serves as a specialist in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of infectious diseases at the Manchester VA Medical Center and associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) locations throughout New Hampshire. The ID Physician provides expert consultation and direct patient care in an outpatient setting, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and supports infection prevention initiatives across the facility and CBOCs.Key Responsibilities: Clinical Consultation and Direct Patient Care Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop management plans for patients with known or suspected infectious diseases, including complicated, multidrug-resistant, and opportunistic infections. Provide timely bedside consultative support for ambulatory care for outpatients referred to for infectious disease evaluation. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as appropriate for infectious disease management. Antimicrobial Stewardship Participate in antimicrobial stewardship activities, including reviewing antimicrobial prescriptions, monitoring resistance trends, and developing guidelines that promote the rational use of antibiotics. Collaborate with pharmacy and laboratory services to optimize antimicrobial selection and de-escalation. Infection Prevention and Control Advise on infection control policies and practices to mitigate healthcare-associated infections. Participate in hospital infection prevention initiatives, including outbreak investigations, surveillance programs, and policy development. Educate staff and patients regarding infection prevention measures and emerging infectious diseases. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with primary care and specialty providers to optimize patient care and coordinate transitions of care. Communicate complex diagnostic and management information effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Serve as a resource on infectious disease topics for the clinical staff. Continuous Quality Improvement and Education Engage in quality improvement and clinical research initiatives pertinent to infectious diseases. Participate in continuing medical education and maintain board certification as required. Present at and participate in hospital conferences, grand rounds, and staff education sessions concerning infectious diseases. Administrative Responsibilities Attend departmental meetings and participate in committee work as assigned. Assist with the development and review of medical center policies relevant to infectious disease management. Participates in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Attends and participates in committees. Completes all medical records in accordance with Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff. The physician must be able to use the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) for data entry/retrieval and management of all patient activity. Work Schedule: Part-Time position, tour of duty will be determined between the Physician and their Supervisor. Pay: Pro rated for Part-Time VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
