Two premier health systems in the state of Alabama, UAB Medicine and Infirmary Health, have come together to improve cancer outcomes for our state by developing a jointly operated cancer service line for South Alabama under the leadership of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB, the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in Alabama with the goal of improving cancer outcomes for the citizens of the state.
Infirmary Health has delivered high-quality healthcare for more than 110 years and is the largest integrated, not-for-profit, non-governmental healthcare system in Alabama and along the Central Gulf Coast. The system sees 1.5 million patient visits each year and has nearly 60 percent of the healthcare market share in the two counties it serves. With three acute care hospitals, one long-term acute care hospital, two post-acute rehabilitation facilities, an employed multi-specialty group that includes 230 physicians and more than 60 physician practice locations, Infirmary Health is a leading healthcare provider in Alabama.
This position is located in Mobile, AL at Infirmary Cancer Care, an affiliate of UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center. Currently, the program comprises 5 Medical Oncologists, 3 Radiation Oncologists, and 3 Complex General Surgical Oncologists, 3 Breast Surgeons, 2 Thoracic Surgeons, 2 Colorectal Surgeons that provide care at 2 multi-disciplinary cancer centers and 3 additional clinic spaces.

This is a non-tenure earning, full clinical position within the Department of Medicine at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine with employment through the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation. The appointed candidates will also be members of the UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Membership in the UAB O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center further enriches the role, facilitating access to leading-edge research, clinical trials, and 18 multi-disciplinary tumor boards, disease specific working groups as well as opportunities for Clinical/ Translational Research.
