Real Experiences from Academic Anesthesiology Physicians
"Decent work-life balance. Some weeks I work 40ish hours and other weeks I may work 70ish hours (for example, if I signed up for a 24 hour weekend shift). I choose to work more than many of my coworkers, as our in-house calls are heavily incentivized - I typically work 1 weeknight shift and 1 weekend shift a month, approx 25 overnight calls yearly."

"Great work life balance considering pressures and needs of academic medicine (ie meetings, teaching, etc). I also do ICU work so get a fair amount of time off due to this. "
